papagiannisGrigoris K. Papagiannis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1956. He received his Dipl.-Eng. and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in 1979 and 1998 respectively.
Since 1981 he has been working as research assistant and then as Lecturer (1998-2006), Assistant Professor (2006-2010) and Associate Professor (2010-today) at the Power Systems Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
He has been also employed in several industrial and technical consulting companies as external consultant.

G. K. Papagiannis is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, Senior Member of IEEE, Member of ΙΕΤ and CIGRE.

His research interests include:

  • Development of transient models of power system components.
  • Simulation of electromagnetic transients in transmission and distribution networks.
  • Earth conductance effects on overhead and underground transmission lines.
  • Powerline communication applications in power distribution networks.
  • Dynamic analysis of distributed generation installations.
  • Future energy networks including smart grids.
  • Environmental impacts of power generation and of energy consumption control technologies.
