rovithakisGeorge Rovithakis was born in Chania, Crete, Greece in 1967. He received the diploma in electrical engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1990 and the M.S and Ph.D degrees in electronic and computer engineering both from the Technical University of Crete, Greece in 1994 and 1995 respectively.

After holding a visiting Assistant Professor position with the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Technical University of Crete, Greece from 1995 to 2002 he joint the Aristotle University University of Thessaloniki where he is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

His research interests include automated inspection systems, nonlinear systems, neural network systems, robust adaptive control, production control, intelligent control, fault detection, isolation and accommodation and control of unknown systems using neural networks, where he has authored or co-authored over 90 publications in scientific journals, referred conference proceedings and book chapters. He has also authored or co-authored the books: a) “Adaptive Control with Recurrent High-Order Neural Networks”, London UK: Springer-Verlag, 2000; b) “Optimization Techniques”, TZIOLAS, Thessaloniki, Greece, 2007 (in Greek).

Dr. Rovithakis serves as an Associate Editor to IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, as well as a reviewer for various scientific journals and conferences. He has also served as session chairman or co-chairman in international conferences. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.
